The Mine

It is very difficult to render a dream, rendering being a close exact copy when drawing...with that in mind...

There's an old mine, on a hillside, in wooded hills, and being worked by two miners, who at the moment aren't mining, but repairing old pipes, which are odd pipes, like large black plastic pbs outer pipe, but with window putty like inner pipe...a young vagabond happens along, needing work and money, and is hired by the miners...after awhile, one afternoon, the vagabond, who looks a bit like a girl masquerading as a boy, and has a triangular sorta skull seen from the side, which I think would be easy to draw, for some reason...I always look for little tricks like geometric shapes when drawing people, but I'm just observing in this dream and this a spurious digression, but was part of the dream too!...I digress in dreams...anyway, on this afternoon, the vagabond tells the miners he has enough money now, and would like to leave, but the miners say no, there's a contract obligation...that night, the miners are awakened to the sound of a shovel shoveling, and go out through the mine along a catwalk, and looking down into a hollow, see the vagabond working, shoveling the edges of a bonfire to keep the logs and large pieces of bark all together, and beside to the left is another bonfire likewise being fed and maintained...the miners, impressed by the vagabonds diligence, trying to finish the work on his own after work hours, agree the next day to shorten the contract...and say to the vagabond the next day, 'lets go to town for some relaxation'...and here the scene changes, almost like the film crew doing this dream, the cameraman, got distracted, and I see through a clearing in the trees a hawk, redtail I think, but with an eagle like beak, and it is perched, then perched on a nest, then there's a fledgling in the nest, then the fledgling is forward of the nest, wings out, then the hawk comes down to the fledgling and coaxes the fledgling back to the nest, and the the view shifts to a wider angle...both hawk and fledgling fly up and off, trying to escape a large black winged raptor approaching over a lake...

Watching a movie, one is always digressing, the most annoying sort when someone says, 'oh, that's not possible..', or some such movie doubt...one wishes for the suspension of disbelief, or at least keep ones doubts to themselves!  Quiet observation is kind of important.

The gender of the vagabond wasn't questioned until I brought it up observing, and it was like the dream obliged, the vagabond sort of wobbling in look between male and female, finally settling on male...very odd...but often a question thought on my part makes a dream shimmer and jiggle, like trying to see clearly through the surface of a pool that is sometimes still,  and sometimes wind riffled...my thoughts being the wind...one needs to stay thought quiet, it would seem, for a dream to play out on its own...

oh, forgot this part (and like half a dozen dreams last night),,,the vagabond explains to the miners his plight just before they go to town...he says he's a novelist, and that he wrote and produced a play, that was a flop, and took all his resources....the setting of the dream was like the old west...
