I'm returning from camping in the redwoods, and thinking, 'From now on , I'll do all my camping in redwood parks...'...and in a desert like countryside, we've stopped at like an antique souvenir second hand store, and are looking at a stack of fortune telling things...first I see like magic eight balls, they morph into t shirts, and on the shirts long lists of fortunes...'fortunes printed on the inside too', it's explained...I look inside one shirt, and it is so, and it's a small size, all the stack I'm looking at are smalls...I'd seen large earlier, but cant find the large shirts again...the wrappings are dusty and torn...the shirts morph, or something, and they are packaged now with like a small box filled with bric a bracs...I get a good look at these, but cant recall,,it's time for my friend to leave, and I wonder if I will see them again...and I see my friend walking with another friend, who knows their first language, and I'm a bit jealous...'it's friday, I have three more days of vacation, if you have time...', I tell my friend, who is non committal, and I am somewhat steeled to not seeing my friend again, again...
The niche wow and video games fill now, was toy soldiers and knights, and indians,, and cowboys, and such when I was a kid...and of course, the video games appeal to all ages!, though, those struck with nostalgia, collect the toy soldiers, and such, when older too...being polite is just me, awake or asleep, and I often draw back from a pursuit if it might interfere, or be rude...
In the second dream, the part about the fortune telling, that's a repeat, oh, and the redwood camping too, which I've dreamt of often...as I move through a dream, it doesn't seem possible to go back and see what I just saw with out it morphing...in fact, everything seems always in flux, and changeable, a bit like Proteus...
Dreams have kind of their own physical laws, which I think resemble the kind of thing computers can do in simulations and gamescapes....I have a quote from Feynman that suggest that computers would give food for thought....and found that looking up things on the web, vortex theory, quantum computers, computer simulations, and I stumbled on the Blue Brain project...Swiss have taken on the task of building a human brain beginning by dissecting rat brains 'down to the neurons'....apparently one neuron has the computing capacity of an average laptop, and there are millions of these...so it will take awhile, ten years it's thought....movies have a take on all this, of course!
quote
I mentioned . . . the possibility . . . of things being affected not just
by the past, but also by the future, and therefore that our probabilities
are in some sense “illusory.” We only have the information
from the past and we try to predict the next step, but in reality it
depends upon the near future . . .I’m trying to get . . . you people
who think about computer-simulation possibilities to . . . digest . . .
the real answers of quantum mechanics and see if you can’t invent
a different point of view than the physicists . . .
. . . the discovery of computers and the thinking about computers
has turned out to be extremely useful in many branches of human
reasoning. For instance, we never really understood how lousy our
understanding of languages was, the theory of grammar and all that
stuff, until we tried to make a computer which would be able to
understand language . . . I . . . was hoping that the computer-type
thinking would give us some new ideas . . .
